Standard EN407 Gloves Providing Protection from Thermal Hazards
This standard refers specifically to the thermal performance of work gloves against thermal hazards such as heat, fire and molten metal, amongst others. The glove is graded using 6 different tests, which are graded from performance level 0-4. The results of these tests are displayed below the pictogram, an ‘X’ is used when the glove hasn’t met the minimum level. Tests and levels for each are as follows:
- a. Resistance to flammability - Based on the length of time the material continues to burn and glow after the source of ignition is removed (performance level 0-4)

- b. Contact heat resistance - Based on the temperature range (100-500℃) at which the user will feel no pain for at least 15 seconds (performance level 0-4)
